gramps and doc’s

Today I’m pairing two bar signs taken in two different cities. What first caught my attention with Gramps is the double rail mounted sign. It reminded me of one of my favorite double rail mounted signs found in Sioux Falls, SD. Those letters look hand cut and I especially love the crossbar of the G. Anytime ‘air conditioning’ comes before ‘cold beer’ is a serious indication that this picture was taken in a city where the average temperature on any given day is above 85 degrees.
Doc’s is a bar located in the SOCO district (South Congress) of Austin. This is one of the most memorable signs that I came across. Austin’s motto is “Keep Austin Weird” which explains this message:
One of the perks of wandering around before the sun comes up is seeing the signs lit up:
This is painted on the floor as you approach the entrance:
See any interesting bar & grill signs in your city? Take a picture and tweet it to me @nikki_vz to be featured in an upcoming post!
