Throwback Thursday: good enough to eat

This post was originally published on June 5, 2013:
Have you ever come across typography that looks good enough to eat? Like, your mouth waters just looking at it. Not because the words are describing something delicious but because the letterforms themselves are done so well you literally want to eat the decenders right off. What.
Here are two examples of typography that I want to eat. Leal’s reminds me of a twinkie and the apostrophe is the cherry on top. It’s so soft and puffy I can almost taste the icing inside:
The cherry on top:2The Varsity is like a well rounded meal. All the food groups are represented here except for dessert. The dot of the i has been knocked clear off the plate by the crazy connection between the V and the t. Man, I’m stuffed!3
