It’s Manhole Monday and I’m taking a little bit of a detour today. I consider both of these utilitarian, like manhole covers, but both of these were found on a wall of a building, not on the ground. The one in Boston says “WHEN GONG RINGS CALL FIRE DEPT. SPRINKLER ALARM.” I thought the way the letters were carved out and the detail of the middle were so well done…FOR A SPRINKLER ALARM! That’s crazy, it looks like it’s a presidential seal of some kind! What caught my eye with the trap door in Fredericksburg was the white on white letters. Majestic, indeed. Here’s a detailed shot of the cover in Fredericksburg:Happy Monday!
