1It’s so interesting to compare these two signs side by side because they are both specific to their area. I have found that motel signs are either really poorly designed or really well designed…or, in the case of the Austin Motel, x-rated unique. (I’m anxiously waiting for your comment on this one, Paul!) The Austin Motel has been family owned and operated since 1938. It is considered a landmark in Austin, located on the popular South Congress Avenue. Premiere Motel, located on Route 66 in the Nob Hill neighborhood of Albuquerque, stands out due to the unique size (it’s extremely tall — compare it to the height of the light pole in the picture) and how well it has been restored. It’s in great condition, like a lot of the signs in this area.
Here is proof that I wake up stupid early the day after my speaking engagements to take pictures. The sun isn’t even out yet!2I’m not sure what I was thinking. I also don’t know what they are thinking putting a phrase like that under a sign like that:3Here’s a detailed shot of the sign in Albuquerque:4See any killer signs in your city? Take a picture and tweet them to me @nikki_vz or email them to to be featured in an upcoming post!
