It’s Manhole Monday! Big thanks to Mårten Thavenius and Jim Slagle for sharing their pictures today. The image on the manhole cover in Mårten’s picture, taken in Malmö, Sweden, is the city’s coat of arms. I love the glimpse of the cobblestone road around the cover. So different from the asphalt that I’m used to seeing in the States. I paired Mårten’s picture with the cover Jim took in Greenville because that g, while not as fancy as a coat of arms, is the branding for downtown Greenville, SC. The tail of the g is meant to symbolize the Reedy River which runs right through the downtown area. Two manhole covers with their city branding from two different parts of the world.
