Manhole Monday: lesson learned

pair 11.18.15 AMHappy Manhole Monday! The last one of 2013!
Big thanks to my favorite Swede Mårten Thavenius for sharing this awesome picture with me. It’s so fascinating to see how other countries handle manhole covers, especially when it is in other languages. The Drip cover is probably the one I come across the most so I’m at the point now that I don’t even take pictures of them anymore. This picture taken in Cuyahoga Falls is one of the first covers I took a picture of when I decided to start documenting manhole covers. Since I see it so much, this cover looks ‘normal’ to me…but when it’s paired side by side with a cover from Thailand, all of a sudden it takes on a whole new life.

A good lesson (for me) to never take for granted the typography that’s around you.
