City signs and state signs are some of my favorite forms of typography that I come across. Mainly because, when they are done well, they are so specific to their city. Big thanks to my friends Mårten Thavenius and Shauna Panczyszyn for sharing their pictures taken in San Antonio and Jacksonville. The typography in both of these signs very much fit the culture of the city they are in. I can only imagine how ridiculous Texas would look lit up in a neon script. All that’s missing from those 5 letters are some cowboy boots and they’ll be ready to hit the town! Such a perfect typographic solution and material for San Antonio. Like Texas, Florida is handled so well for the city it is in. That r alone is ready to catch some rays. She’s pretty much laying down as it is. Have you noticed the city type in your city?
