Happy Manhole Monday! Today I’m pairing two unique water covers that I have come across recently. The rusty color of the steel and the sandy color of the pavement in the picture on the left just say San Antonio to me. It’s amazing to me that with such little detail, the vibe of the city is portrayed. I thought the oval shape was unusual and the middle part reminded me of a soda can. As much as I love the typography, I totally fell for this arrow:During a lunch break several weeks ago, I took a stroll around Hudson which is the city I work in. I came across this water cover that is in someone’s front yard near the sidewalk (hooray for trespassing!). This weathered typography is out of control. The way the paint is peeling off and the skewed forms the letters are starting to take are so beautiful. Here’s a close up:See any awesome Manhole’s in your city? Take a picture and tweet it to me @nikki_vz to be featured in an upcoming post!
