ghost sign jewelers

pairToday’s pairing are two examples of found type in the ground at the entrance of stores. I have tagged them ghost signs because they no longer advertise the business that is currently there. Hamilton’s is now in front of an abandoned building. I was walking to lunch and was just blown away at how beautiful this is. It looks like it used to be a jewelry store of some kind with that bling bling above the beautiful letters. Here are a couple of close ups:1
2The picture taken in San Antonio is at the entrance of a store that is no longer a jeweler. I thought this type treatment was just beautiful. Here’s a close up:3I have so much appreciation for signs that are literally built into the ground, it adds so much character and a sense of history.
