i question the apostrophe

This picture taken in Boston is another  image taken from inside the Ray and Maria Stata Center designed by Architect Frank Gehry. If you aren’t familiar with this building, take a look: http://www.eecs.mit.edu/stata-link.html. I love this question mark. It’s so simple. If you have a question, go here for your answer. This building was so easy to navigate through which is surprising considering what it looks like on the outside.

This signage taken in NYC has always baffled me. For one, the name. Daffy’s? Really? I thought maybe it was someone’s last name, which would be more acceptable but sadly, that’s not the case. I found out via their website that in 1961, Irving Shulman opened a new kind of store in Elizabeth, NJ called Daffy Dan’s Bargain Town. Daffy Dan’s Bargain Town?! REALLY?! omg

If you can look past the god awful kerning, the apostrophe is pretty sweet. I like how it overlays on top of the Y and S. Too bad they ruined it on the 2 banners.

  1. I’d like to know why they have 3 banners and the sign on the awning, which probably proclaims Daffy’s on three sides. Now that’s daffy!
