curls

When we were in Mexico last year, we spent a lot of time in the booming city of Querétaro. Querétaro is located about 2.5 hours north of Mexico City. It is extremely developed and has become very populated in the last 10 years. A lot of people have moved to Querétaro to escape the crowded streets of Mexico City. When we visited last summer, we were always on the lookout for things to do with the kids. My kids were big into The Backyardigans at the time (no comment) so I couldn’t help but notice their ginormous image plastered on a trailer. Turns out they were the stars in a circus act so, of course we had to go. What really caught my eye was the awesome lettering in red. It seems the first letter of each 2 letter word curls out and the 2nd letter curls in…except for the ‘D’. Or the kerning between the Y and D is so bad? Or is ‘ayde’ one word? Even my Mexican husband has no clue what’s going on. I say who cares, look how awesome those curls are!

Stow is a city very close to where I live and work here in Ohio. I passed the wooden sign for Fishcreek Golf and immediately thought of the lettering in Querétaro. The curl of the ‘F’ looks so similar and check out the ‘h’ and the ‘k’! They are ready to party! Beautiful lettering. Wish I could say the same for that tree/lake/blob illustration. yikes!

  1. Love it! That Mexican “Y” is reaching for the “D” like an annoying brother poking his sibling on a car trip.

Also, that tree/lake/blob thing looks like a medical condition one would not want to have.
